Nina and Garrett are both parents of adorable littles. If you're a parent, you know that your child is the one who really decides the important people in your life, because their disapproval is a no-go. After some time together talking and laughing and enjoying each other, they introduced the kids who instantly approved! Not only do they love each step-parent as their own, but they're also inseparable siblings (who are surprisingly well behaved during a multi-hour photo session).
They decided to get hitched at City Hall with a family celebration afterwards and, to be quite honest, their family was so cool about it (from what I saw, anyway)! Sometimes elopements can be surrounded with familial expectations or disappointment - which is really just not cool - but I didn't experience any of this here. When I was waiting at City Hall, I heard high pitched, happy little voices yelling random things that echoed through the stone courtyard. I thought, "They're here, and they sound so happy!" It was quick, filled with smiles, the kids were involved and excited, and family met them later with open arms and love. This is what a marriage is all about when you get right down to it: the love and the commitment and the celebration by loved ones.
In addition to a relaxed ceremony, this little family was SO stylish! There was brown corduroy (I have a secret obsession with corduroy), an eco-friendly geometric dress and matching cardigan, a sleek white dress, and the perfect mix of brown, blue, and black. Ohh, and those flowers! Check out Eldebery Flowers to meet the star behind that bouquet.
Here is a snippet of their love in their own words:
What's the most exciting/horrible date you've been on?
We've been on a lot of very exciting dates. One of our friends recently asked us if we ever just do nothing. One of our best dates was definitely seeing Beatles Love Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas.
Each of you, what is your favorite quirk about the other?
Nina- Whenever I ask Garrett a question, no matter what, he always answers that he has to ask, 'the guy.' I'll ask something like, "What should we have for dinner"? He responds, " Well, the guy says... " I don't know who 'the guy' is, but he seems to be a fairly reliable source of information.
Garrett- When something is somewhat disappointing, Nina says, "I'll contact the authorities about this." I always respond with, "Really? I don't think they'll take you seriously. It's not that big of a deal." We're weird.
Each of you, what is the most beautiful and captivating piece of the other?
Nina- Garrett has beautiful, sweet eyes; they are really kind. He is so thoughtful and loving. He is a wonderful father to Aria, and he is a great step-dad to Taj, too.
Garrett- I learn from Nina. She makes me strive to be a better person. She's patient and kind.
