Katie and Mike live in the great - also vacation state - of Colorado, but came back to York, Maine for their intimate wedding. The lighthouse in York is where Mike proposed, so it was only fitting that they would also tie the knot there! Katie really cared about photography, and when she found me and saw that I really work hard to encourage eco-friendly weddings, she was sold! Being in Colorado, we didn't have the chance to meet before her big day, but when you know, you know! I am so blessed to have had the chance to photograph this love story and intimate wedding at the Dockside Restaurant in York, Maine. Scroll on to see some of the fun portraits, the moment Mike's heart jumped out of his chest, and the absolutely stunning bride!
Katie and Mike are totally into sentiment and the love of their family. Mike's ring is an heirloom and came in the original box that was once his grandfather's! The box is pictured above and is the perfect touch to make these images mean something a little more. The best part of the day was when Mike's grandma officiated the wedding! It was such a fun and spunky surprise - can all grandma's officiate from now on?!
When Katie and Mike met, it was over dinner on the first day that Katie landed in Colorado. Mike waited on them and must have done a stand-up job, because they exchanged numbers, became friends, then quickly fell in love! Katie says she knew it was the real deal when he took care of her while she was sick early on in the relationship. Mike says he knew this was it the moment he had to go a week without her.
Take a look at those first look images, Mike literally almost melted when he turned around and saw his love! That is a kind of admiration that we all look for and I am so, so happy that these two have found such a joy in each other.
Here's a big shoutout to all of the wonderful people who made planning a destination Maine wedding possible! Hair and Makeup was by the amazing Aubreyanna from Salon Loka in Ogunquit, and the gown came from BHLDN, a favorite of many of my couples! Planning, dinner, and the ceremony location was at The Dockside Restaurant and Guest Quarters in York, ME, a beautiful gem hidden off a side road. It also comes with lots of cheering locals putting by on their boats! Harmons Floral Company in Portland, Maine, one of my pics for fab bouquets and eco-friendly options made this stunning white floral arrangement.
